Changes are calculated by subtracting out the impact of players lost to other teams either in free agency or in a trade, then adding in the scores of those who are new to the roster. Many teams will trend in the negative direction as they fill out their benches, and it’s worth noting pending free agents who are expected to re-sign with their old teams but haven’t yet reached terms are still counted as losses for the time being.
